one of my all-time fave players, pat lafontaine was elected into the nhl hof today (along with grant fuhr - and a few others).
GREAT MOVE!
lafontaine was one of the classiest and best players to ever play in the league. for a great many seasons he centered a line with basically a fire hydrant on each side. when he and mogilny hooked up in buffalo - every game you would look in the box score and see a goal by mogilny with an assist to lafontaine.
if not for a rash of concussions he might have put up even more than 1,013 points (468G, 545A) in 865 games.
he is arguably the best american born player in nhl history - an in the top 5 w/o any argument at all.
sadly he called it quits before i could get a game used stick from him - one he was going to give me the next time he played in the so cal area. DAMN!
if you see this pat (and i'm sure he is a regular here), send me an e-mail so we can discuss that stick!
